Location

Lanzarote Airport is located between Arrecife and the main tourist resort of Puerto del Carmen on the island of Lanzarote. Because of its popularity with holiday makers, this airport serves frequent scheduled and chartered flights from destinations all over Europe, as well as internal flights connecting Lanzarote Airport to the other islands within the Archipelago.

The main changeover day for the tourist resorts here is Thursday, which makes the airport especially busy, although there are now many flights on other days throughout the week.

Lanzarote Airport Transportation

Taxi

As Lanzarote is a tourist island, there are a plentiful supply of taxis at the airport, waiting taxis can be found outside the arrivals hall on the lower floor.

The standard of Taxis is generally very high, with most being kept scrupulously clean by the drivers who apparently carry a bucket and leather with them, to clean the taxi at every opportunity.

It is worth noting though that queues for taxis do build up during peak holiday periods and on busy transfer days such as Thursdays.

You can find up to date taxi pricing for transfers to all parts of the island by visiting the official Lanzarote taxis website. It is also possible to book a transfer direct online.

Lanzarote Airport Car Hire

There are a good number of hire car operators situated at Lanzarote Airport, whose desks may be found in the Arrivals hall. In order to speed your transition through the airport it is advisable to pre-book your hire car, especially in the peak holiday season. Our Lanzarote Car Hire pages give details of companies with whom you can pre-book a hire car (online) to collect at Lanzarote Airport.

Bus

There are no direct shuttle bus services between the airport and the main resorts. It is possible to take a local bus from the airport to the capital of Arrecife and find connecting buses there. But this is a time consuming business and one best tackled if you have a reasonable grasp of Spanish.

As a result the quickest and most effective way of reaching your accommodation is to take a taxi from the airport (available outside the main arrival hall) or to book car hire or a transfer prior to arrival.
