The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has maintained its orange alert as the heat wave currently affecting the Canary Islands continues. Despite the fact that there is a layer of cloud in the skies over Lanzarote and Fuerteventura this is not expected to reduce the high temperatures – which are expected to persist into the weekend.

The fourteen year old Danish solo sailor, Laura Dekker, arrived yesterday in Marina Rubicon in Playa Blanca. Laura is attempting to set a new record on her round the world trip, as the youngest ever solo sailor, beating the current record holder, Australian Jessica Watson.
