A lush green eighteen hole golf course, views of volcanoes and the ocean in the background and a climate which allows you to play all year round. A true paradise for any golfer.
Location
Currently the only course on the island of Lanzarote, Costa Teguise Golf represents a dream come true for many golfers, with the warm sub-tropical climate allowing you to play at any time of the year.
Situated on the edge of the resort of Costa Teguise this course has easy access to hotels and restaurants as well as the beach, ocean and local cultural attractions for when you’re not actually playing.
It is only a 20 minute drive from the modern Arrecife International Airport and only ten minutes from the island’s capital Arrecife.
The course
The course was built in 1978 by John Harris at the foot of an old volcano.
While the mass of green is not at all what you expect from Lanzarote’s lunar landscape, it fits in surprisingly well, offering views of the ocean and volcanoes at almost every hole.
The greens and fairways are surrounded by local plants and trees, such as the beautiful Canary Island Date palm, which lends this all year round course a tropical air.
It is a 72 par course which ranges in length from 4938 metres to 6,041 metres at its longest.
Course facilities
As you may imagine, the course benefits from an excellent clubhouse with a Pro-shop, Restaurant and Coffee Bar.
A full range of equipment is available for hire from half and full sets of clubs through to Golf Buggies.
The course has a resident pro and offers both private and group lessons.
Accommodation
If you want to stay close to the course, there are a number of excellent hotels such as the Gran Melia Salinas, the Coronas Playa and the Occidental Oasis.
If you are happy to venture a little further afield, then the recently renovated Gran Hotel in Arrecife is fantastic. This five star hotel has a rooftop restaurant which has fantastic views over the Playa del Reducto to the Ocean. It also allows you to experience the more cosmopolitan feel of the island’s capital.
If you prefer to look after yourself, there is an excellent range of Luxury Villas in and around Costa Teguise.
In summary
For those with families who don’t enjoy golf, you can be sure there is plenty to keep them occupied in Costa Teguise while you are on the course.
This is a truly exceptional golf course in an exquisite environment, although perhaps the best thing about it, is that the climate gives you the ability to play golf all year round.
