Caldera Blanca is one of the largest accessible craters in the volcanic region, giving great views across the sea of lava beneath it.
Caldera Blanca
The Caldera Blanca is one of the most accessible and also one of the largest volcanic craters to be found on Lanzarote. It is over a kilometre in diameter. The volcano which formed the Caldera Blanca is considerably older than the surrounding sea of lava, which is why the volcanic landscape offers such contrasting views here. This walk is approximately 8 kilometres in length.
The first phase of this walk involves ascending the side of the crater. This is a steep climb but it is the most difficult part of the whole walk and gives fantastic views over the volcanic region from the top. The pathway circles the entire crater and brings walkers back to the original point of ascent.
This walk is considered easy and requires only proper shoes for walking.
