Of the many hotels in Lanzarote only a handful enjoy five star status. Offering the highest level of service and guest facilities for those in search of a really luxurious break on the island.
Gran Melia Salinas – Costa Teguise

The original five star hotel on Lanzarote, this hotel in Costa Teguise has been welcoming guests since the 1970’s. It owes much of its unique style to the Lanzarote artist and architect César Manrique, who designed the lagoon swimming pool in the hotel grounds and also the internal tropical gardens. The hotel’s location is right next to the sea in Costa Teguise, with the extensive gardens opening directly onto the seafront.
There is a Beauty and Wellness Centre for guests to use, with spa treatments available such as massage or hydro-massage. For those who want a more active holiday, the hotel has tennis courts, a fitness centre and courts for basketball and handball. The design of the building is such that every room has a sea view.
The double rooms offer comfortable accommodation with a balcony overlooking the garden, whilst there are also junior suites, master suites and the garden villas for a more spacious stay. On site facilities include three restaurants, a bar and a snack bar. The standard rooms start at €143 per night with bed and breakfast included but there may also be special offers available at lower prices.
Hesperia Puerto Calero

The Hesperia hotel in Puerto Calero is a more recent addition to the island’s accommodation. The attention to detail at this hotel is excellent, with additional services such as a pet room available for guests who can’t bear to leave their four-legged friend at home. The spa offers a huge range of the latest treatments including a two day de-stress programme. It is the only hotel on Lanzarote that has WIFI throughout, free safety deposit boxes and many little extras, such as non-smoking rooms and rooms specially adapted for wheelchair users.
The accommodation at the Hesperia covers the standard double room, with suites, family rooms, a penthouse and a Presidential suite as well. The standard rooms start at €115 and include a terrace, minibar, internet access and satellite television. The standard room with a sea view starts at €135. The facilities at the Hesperia include three restaurants, four bars, four swimming pools, a gym, tennis courts, a beauty centre and gardens.
Gran Melia Volcan – Playa Blanca

The Sol Melia group has a second five star establishment on Lanzarote with the Gran Melia Volcan – one of two five star hotels in Playa Blanca.
The Volcan is laid out along the lines of a small village and occupies a large area of the resort close to Marina Rubicon. A replica volcano stands next to the main entrance of the hotel, whilst the reception area is home to a replica of one of the island’s oldest churches – Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe in Teguise. There are six on-site restaurants and a range of services, including a spa with a hamam, four swimming pools and a gym with a squash court.
The standard room rate is €135 per night for bed and breakfast, with the accommodation comprising a spacious lounge area as well as the bedroom. There are also junior suites, suites and royal service accommodation available.
Princesa Yaiza Hotel – Playa Blanca

Also located in the southern resort of Playa Blanca is the Princesa Yaiza hotel, which overlooks the sea at Playa Dorada and has direct access to the beach and promenade.
As with the other five star hotels on the island, the Princesa Yaiza has its own spa, with a full range of thalassotherapy treatments, including a ‘Thousand and One Nights’ seawater pool, lit by a ‘starry sky’ overhead and fitted with jets to help massage every muscle group.
This hotel prides itself on creating the right package for its guests, whether they are families with children, couples on honeymoon, golf enthusiasts or busy professionals looking to unwind. Children are particularly impressed with the activities on offer at Kikoland – the area of the hotel reserved specifically for them with its own pool, sports and entertainment in the form of magic shows, clowns and trained animals.
With eight restaurants, there is no lack of choice for guests, with cuisine from Japan, Italy and the Mediterranean to savour. The accommodation ranges from a superior room which starts at €190 per night, including breakfast, to a suite with a sea view at €278 per night.
Arrecife Gran Hotel

The only high rise building on Lanzarote is the five star Gran Hotel in Arrecife. With panoramic views that are unique to this building, the Gran Hotel is a sleek modern city style hotel, with a number of additional features. Just at its entrance there is also the white sandy beach of Playa del Reducto, proving that a city break doesn’t have to exclude sunbathing under palm trees. The hotel has an elevated swimming pool that overlooks the beach and its own spa and wellness centre where a range of massages and beauty treatments can be arranged.
There are two restaurants to choose from, with the Altamar restaurant offering amazing views across Arrecife, thanks to its location at the top of the building. Less formal dining is offered in a buffet restaurant and several snack bars. Accommodation comprises double rooms, suites and imperial suites. A double room starts at €129 per night, including breakfast. The rooms include internet access, satellite television, a minibar, air conditioning and a safety deposit box.
