There’s no shortage of good quality four and five star hotels in Playa Blanca. As the blueprint for this resort’s development was based on high quality hotel accommodation. This means that many of Spain’s leading chains are represented here. Such as the H10 and Hesperia Groups.
H10 Rubicon Palace

The Rubicon Palace is regarded as H10´s flagship hotel in Playa Blanca. It is situated beneath Montaña Roja, the red volcano which sits behind the resort on its western side. As a result, the hotel is a fair walk from the main town centre, although there is a pleasant seafront promenade which runs all the way into Playa Blanca.
The accommodation is spaciously distributed around the grounds of the hotel, and consists of 546 rooms and 38 junior suites, nearly all of which have views of the swimming pools and the sea. In addition to the five swimming pools dotted about there is also a sports and scuba diving centre onsite. Whilst the all inclusive packages include dining in the buffet restaurants, there are two further restaurants, one serving a la carte meals; the other is a barbecue restaurant.
Numerous spacious public areas are available for guests to use throughout their stay, including a large balcony opening off the main bar area with great views of neighbouring island Fuerteventura. There are also intimate corners, with sofas and coffee tables dotted around to while away the time in.
The hotel is now able to offer guests a free WiFi service in public areas and there is an internet corner as well. For those who are there purely for rest and relaxation, the Thalasso Health and Beauty Centre deserves a visit. The Spa has the usual circuit of jets and hydromassage beds, but guests can also book a massage or beauty treatment to complement their pampering.
Naturally there are plenty of activities for children, with the Daisy Miniclub catering for four to twelve year olds. Evening entertainment takes a variety of forms, from music in the Piano Bar to song and dance productions from the Animation Team.
Reviews from previous guests suggest that service can be considerably slower during peak season, but on the whole the hotel meets most guests’ approval, with plenty of repeat bookings.
Hesperia Playa Dorada

The Hotel Hesperia Playa Dorada is a four star hotel and on the opposite other side of town to the H10 Rubicon Palace. In fact it takes its name from the beach at Playa Dorada, as the gardens open directly onto the promenade close to this beach. The hotel is approximately five minutes walk from the centre of the town and a further five to seven minutes walk to the Rubicon Marina in the opposite direction. It’s proximity to the Marina means that guests can take full advantage of the shops, the twice-weekly market, bars and restaurants in the port without facing a long walk back to their accommodation.
The rooms are spacious and most have a sea view. The well maintained gardens boast five swimming pools, two of which are for children. In addition, the hotel has a fitness centre with gym and squash courts plus an indoor lane swimming pool, sauna, steam baths and Jacuzzi. There is an additional €5 charge to use the fitness centre.
There are two restaurants – one providing a buffet service, whilst the other is a la carte. Three bars offer a variety of options, with one located next to the main swimming pool and another making great use of the terrace overlooking the gardens. Entertainment covers live music and acts such as magicians and flamenco dancers.
