Located in the lava fields of El Islote close to the Monumento al Campesino in the heart of the island, the rural accommodation on offer at Casa Tomaren is an eclectic mixture of Spanish, Balinese and Moroccan influences.
The original building was an eighteenth century farmhouse, and the restoration has carefully retained much of the original character. Whilst adding numerous Moroccan touches in the tiling, light fittings, furniture and rugs.
Each of the six individual villas available for holiday rental have their own flavour and feel. And the South East Asian influences in the decor of the grounds, the hall and the general ambience particularly suit this finca, as it also functions as a yoga centre.
The accommodation ranges from a studio, suitable for two to a house that can sleep up to eight people. Named after places and products from the Indonesian islands, the units comprise:
Dewa
The studio, with an area housing the double bed, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and covered terrace area. Prices from €90 per night (low season), €105 per night (high season).
Mawar
A little house on two floors, with a large double bedroom upstairs and a fully fitted kitchen, lounge and bathroom downstairs, this can sleep three people, with provision of an extra bed on demand. Prices from €115 per night (low season), €125 per night (high season).
Melati
Named after a beach resort in Koh Samui, this is a one storey house, with double bedroom, fully kitted kitchen, living room, covered terrace and a garden with barbecue and fountain. Prices from €115 per night (low season), €125 per night (high season).
Sari Wang
his is a two-bedroom house, with kitchen, lounge, two en-suite bathrooms, with a single and a double bedroom. Extra beds can be provided. Externally it has its own garden with a barbecue. Prices from €140 per night (Iow season), €165 per night (high season).
Akar Wangi
Another two-bedroom house that sleeps four, but could be extended to accommodate seven people. In addition to the high standard of fitted kitchen found throughout, there is a fireplace and sofa bed in the lounge and both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. There are also two garden and terrace areas to enjoy. Prices from €140 per night (low season), €165 (high season).
Kintamani
Named after a Balinese volcano, this is the largest of the units. It has two storeys and consists of a fully fitted kitchen, living room and two bathrooms on the ground floor. The upper floor is one large room partitioned into two separate sleeping areas. With extra bedding provided, it could sleep up to eight people.
Prices from €130 per night (low season), €150 per night (high season).
Peak season covers July and August, Christmas, Easter and bank holidays. Additional beds add €20 per night per bed to the price in low season and €25 per night high season.
Each of these extremely comfortable and tasteful units comes complete with wireless internet connection, DVD, MP3 and CD players and radio, combining the most tranquil of locations with all the entertainment facilities required.
The whole finca has been devised to create a harmonious collection of holiday accommodation, with delightful gardens and a lagoon style swimming pool. The pool is surrounded by a sunken garden, with souk-style tents and Indonesian day beds to enjoy the ambience. It has been planted with a mixture of the native flora of the island and more tropical greenery, including plenty of mature palm trees. Lit up by underwater lighting at night, the pool area is particularly atmospheric after dark.
With its own restaurant on site, guests may find they have no use for the well equipped kitchen in their accommodation. Fresh local produce is used in the kitchen and there is a good selection of vegetarian food, ensuring that the catering complements the activities offered by Casa Tomaren. Breakfast is included in the price of accommodation and includes homemade bread, drinks, cereals, bacon and ham. It is served in the restaurant dining hall between 07.00 and 11.00 every day.
Because the finca is also home to a spacious hall, where a variety of yoga courses take place. This impressive space can also be hired for weddings, meetings, seminars and parties. The hall is 130sqm and has a separate vestibule, with a bar and bathrooms. A full programme of yoga classes is available, including specially devised programmes for pregnant women and their partners, introductory, advanced and special courses, such as ‘Yoga and Non-violent Communication’.
A number of holiday packages have been prepared to offer guests an individual experience during their holiday at Casa Tomaren. These include a ‘Relax Package’, a ‘Yoga Retreat’, cycling and trekking activities and the opportunity to experience three to five days sailing round the islands, on a yacht with skipper.
