Grand Tour
This is a combination of the highlights from the north and south tours. This great day out takes you to the beautiful bay of El Golfo, where the olivine stone is found. The rugged coastline of Los Hervideros and the salt flats at Janubio are next, where you can find out about the importance of salt extraction in Lanzarote's history. The tour then takes in the Timanfaya National Park, where geothermal experiments demonstrate the immense power of the heat just below the surface. You will also be able to see the 'natural' oven where food is cooked over a dormant volcano, before taking the magnificent crater tour that reveals the best views of the lava fields.
A tasty three course lunch is provided in a typical Canarian village before we journey on to the La Geria region, where the world's most unusual vineyards can be found. Not only can you hear more about the history of the area but there is also a wine-tasting opportunity.
We then pass the Monumento al Campesino in the centre of the island before heading towards Teguise, the former capital. The tour then passes the highest point on the island at the Peñas del Chache, which at 671m gives great views of the north eastern coastline. You will have an opportunity to take photos here before the coach proceeds on to Haria and the Valley of a Thousand Palms.
Through winding roads we make our way to the Guinate viewpoint, overlooking the Chinijo islands of La Graciosa, Montaña Clara and Alegranza. Our visit to the Jameos del Agua is a great end to the day. Here the gifted César Manrique left his mark. Enchanting subterranean gardens and the amazing auditorium are example’s of Manrique's artistic talent. Jameos del Agua is also home to a unique blind albino crab. Don't forget to look around the volcanic museum, with interactive displays.
You will be back at your pick up points at approximately 18.30.
