The latest addition to the growing roster of spas on Lanzarote is now open for business. As the high tech Spa and Wellness Centre at the Beatriz Hotel in Matagorda is now offering a full range of health and beauty treatments to both guests and the general public alike.
Spas are an increasingly popular addition for any top end hotel, and the new spa at the Beatriz Playa is the first in Matagorda – which is now fast evolving as a growing resort in its own right.
The main salon of the Spa consists of a hydrothermal circuit, with underwater jets, waterfalls, micro-bubble beds, swan’s neck jets, Jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish bath and power showers. All of which have been designed to massage the different muscle groups of the body, helping to eliminate those knots and aches caused by tension and stress.
As a distinct contrast with the Spa at the Beatriz Costa in Costa Teguise which is styled as a Roman bath, in homage to the origins of thermal bathing, the new Spa is very contemporary.
The décor is an inviting combination of clean lines, using blocks of colour and subtle lighting, with the additional motif of giant hibiscus flowers adorning the ceiling and one wall. With a colour scheme based on 60’s retro, olive greens and candy pinks predominate in the tiling. There are day beds dotted around the edges of the pool, designed with maximum comfort in mind. The overall effect of which creates a relaxing ambience, ideal for a bit of body pampering.
The range of beauty treatments available is extensive. Facial treatments include an intense oxygenating anti-ageing treatment of the skin tissue, an anti-wrinkle collagen treatment that firms the skin with elastine and a purification procedure that opens and cleanses the pores. The facial treatments start at €51.
Body therapies cover tissue firming, restoring the body’s silhouette and improving circulation, with prices starting at €59. The body wraps come in a variety of flavours, including chocolate, algae, aloe vera and caviar. There is even a gold body wrap, specially designed for dry skin, at €52. The body peels are designed to rid the body of impurities and are followed by deep moisturising. These start at €30 for a body peel with lemon or cocoa.
For those in need of more radical stress relief, there are anti-stress massages which start at €38 for a half hour session. Not to mention, massages with chocolate, cava and caviar. And an all-essential after-sun massage to refresh the skin after the beach.
Massage therapies such as reflexology, which focuses on the pressure points in the feet can also be arranged, from €48. Japanese Shiatsu massage which relieves the nervous system starts at €39 for a half hour.
The Spa has also devised a special programme of ritual treatments, designed to bring not only physical but also mental relaxation. Amongst these is the Queen Cleopatra Treatment, a rejuvenating cellular treatment that also activates internal beauty benefits.
More general beauty treatments such as manicures, pedicures and bikini waxes can also be had. And a range of treatments in each of the categories has been developed for male guests at the Spa.
With the very latest equipment and treatments on offer, the Spa provides clients with the opportunity to revitalise their emotional well being as well as the physical. For those who merely wish to indulge themselves with use of the hydrothermal circuit, the cost is €21 per person.
