This years Break Park festival touches down on the beach at Los Pocillos – in-between Puerto del Carmen and Matagorda – on July 11th and 12th. Offering an eclectic mix of musical entertainment – along with a big range of supporting activities such as skateboarding, beach football and volleyball competitions.
After the successful inception of Park last year this second festival of graffiti, break dance and BMX will be celebrated this coming weekend, 11th and 12th of July on the beach at Los Pocillos just outside Puerto del Carmen.
A range of activities will be offered throughout the festival, including skate boarding, beach foot and basket ball, graffiti exhibitions and go-go dancers, to accompany the eclectic fusion of music on offer.
This year well known Spanish groups such as Delorean and Wagon Cookin will be performing. The music covers electronica, hip hop and new jazz. Alongside local bands such as the Ocartieneales, The Rumbers and Tropico 28.

Surfing Rock Festival
Playa La Garita – the beach at Arrieta – plays host to the Surfing Rock Festival on July 19th. Featuring a line up of alternative live acts – such as the wonderfully named Tokio Sex Restriction from Barcelona – alongside local favourites such as La Gallina Verde.
Surf action takes place during the day from 08.30 – alongside a whole host of other sporting activities – such as beach football and volleyball. With live music kicking off later from 18.30.
Teguise Street Theatre Festival
Lanzarote´s former capital Teguise provides the backdrop for a festival of street theatre this month. Taking place from July 10th to 12th.
The main event features renowned Spanish singer songwriter Riki Lopez, a former waiter from Andalusia whose comic renditions have earned a big reputation on the alternative circuit. He will be performing in the Plaza de San Miguel at 21.00 on Thursday 10th July.
During the evening of the 11th there will be street workshops for children to get involved in, taking place in both the Plaza de la Mareta and the Plaza de San Miguel in Teguise from 17.30 until 21.00.
And on the 12th there further entertainment in the form of the ‘Emperor’s new suit’ by the Tal Cual Troupe will be taking place at 18.30 in the Plaza de la Mareta.
Live Music at El Almacen
The El Almacen cultural centre in Arrecife is staging a series of live music events throughout July. Featuring the swing jazz sounds of Evergeen on July 11th, blues group the Soul Tellers on the 18th and folk jazz artist Toñin Corujo on the 25th.
All of the performances kick off at 22.00 and admission costs €5.
Musical Movies

The musical theme continues at El Alamcen on the big screen this month as the Cine Y Musica series gets underway. Highlights Julien Temple´s recently released film about ex-Clash lead singer Joe Strummer – on July 9th at 21.00. And a screening of Respect Yourself on July 23rd – the 2007 release about the legendary Stax record label. Admission costs €3.
