Los Corizonas At The Arrecife Gran Hotel
Arrecife plays host to a brace of good quality gigs this weekend, as country rockers The Corizonas appear live in the stylish surroundings of the Terraza Sol at the Arrecife Gran Hotel in the centre of the city on Saturday 16th. Complimenting the hip hop sounds of Cookin’ Bananas who take to the stage up the road at the Museum of International and Contemporary Art on the same night.
The Corizonas surprisingly infectious, twanging country rock sounds have earned them plenty of plaudits on the Spanish Indy scene and this seven piece group are visiting Lanzarote as part of a wider tour that is also taking in much bigger venues in cities such as Las Palmas Gran Canaria and San Sebastian in the north of Spain.
Born from the ashes of two separate bands, Raizing Arizona and The Coronas, who spent time touring together, The Corizonas merged their talents to create their first release, The News Today, on Subterfuge Records in 2011, an eclectic mix of country, folk and surf sounds which started to earn them a growing following across the country.
Lead by the versatile guitarist Fernando Pardo the group will be performing from 22.00 in the impressive surroundings of the Terraza Sol, the sun terrace and pool area on the top floor of the Arrecife Gran Hotel, where you can also drink in some amazing nighttime views of Lanzarote’s capital city. Tickets cost €10 in advance or €13 on the night.
