Tuna Tasting at Gastronomy Week
This is the latest event organized by Saborea Lanzarote and will feature numerous restaurants around the island offering tempting new tuna dishes at reasonable prices.
Tuna is one of the principal catches found in the waters surrounding the Canary Islands, so it appears on restaurant menus across Lanzarote on a regular basis. Local fishing fleets participate in a programme of sustainable extraction to ensure that tuna stocks are not dangerously depleted and as a result availability of this fish is generally seasonal.
Its rich texture and flavour make it an ideal fish to experiment with gastronomically and the chefs at the fifteen restaurants participating will all be vying to come up with the most unusual marriage of flavours. With all the new creations being served alongside locally produced wines from the numerous bodegas on Lanzarote.
Amongst those restaurants taking part are Lilium (C/José Antonio) and La Puntilla (El Charco) in Arrecife, the restaurant at the Castillo de San José in Puerto Mármoles, Lagomar in Nazaret, El Marinero (C/La Garita) in Arrieta, Isla Bonita (Av. Del Mar) in Costa Teguise, La Cascada del Puerto in Puerto del Carmen, Bodega Rubicon in La Geria and Aromas Yaiza in Playa Blanca.
This festival celebrating tuna continues until 30th September and begins with a special inaugural tasting on 21st September between 12.00 and 15.00 at the Cofradia de Pescadores in Puerto Naos, Arrecife, with dishes on offer at only €1 each.
