Budget airline Kiss Flights has gone bust. The low cost carrier owned by the London based company Flight Options operated services to Lanzarote and the other Canary Islands, as well as Egypt, Greece and Turkey. And the CAA estimate that the firms collapse has left the travel plans of an estimated 70,000 customers in disarray.

The collapse of Kiss Flights late on Monday evening has left around 13,000 British holidaymakers stranded according to the Civil Aviation Authority. Whilst a further 60,000 customers with forward bookings have been left with the task of trying to recover their money.

The CAA has stated that all tourists stranded overseas will be repatriated within 24 hours. A spokesperson stated: “We are picking up the pieces. People abroad will be fine. We will make sure everyone will be able to come back from their holidays. We will also make arrangements so that all of the people who were Atol (Air Travel Organisers Licensing) protected will received full refunds. That will be the vast majority.”
