The Atlantic Star cruise ship was forced to abandon its course to visit Lisbon and Gibraltar yesterday due to electrical problems. And was forced to dock at Arrecife as a result instead. With 1,500 passengers transported to the airport to catch flights home.
The problems began on the first day of the voyage, with supply of electricity unable to cope with demand for air conditioning, water and certain parts of the kitchen’s equipment. Conditions on board became untenable for the remainder of the cruise, which was meant to visit Casablanca, Agadir, Arrecife, Lisbon and Gibraltar having embarked from Malaga.
The tour company which offered the cruise, Pullman Tours, has not only had to cover the cost of flying its passengers back to mainland Spain, but will also be reimbursing the cost of the package in full. To engender good feelings amongst the holidaymakers who have had their cruise disrupted, Pullman Tours will also offer a fifty percent discount to them on one of its future voyages.
