Mas Que Son At The Municipal Theatre in Tias
Visitors to the island have the chance to catch the unique brand of Latin music showcased by the Lanzarote based trio Mas Que Son this weekend, as the popular group perform live at the Municipal Theatre in Tias on Saturday the 6th of October.
The group is comprised of singer Sergio Padron, bassist Toto Noriega and guitarist Yoriell Carmona and their name plays on a double meaning, as Son is a Cuban musical style while Mas Que Son also translates as More Than Sound.
The talented trio has been performing across the Canary Islands over the last year, whilst promoting their latest released, Un Poco Mas (A Little More). Their blend of salsa, Latin jazz and Afro Cuban rhythms is reminiscent of the Buena Vista Social Club and strikes a real chord with many Lanzaroteños, as close links between this island and Cuba were formed in the aftermath of the eruptions and during periods of economic hardship, forcing many locals to start a new life abroad.
Mas Que Son will be on stage from 21.00 onwards and tickets for the event cost €10 in advance from El Patio Creperie in Calle Duende (Teguise), Luna Records in Calle Méjico (Arrecife), Gestión Latina in Calle Portugal (Arrecife) and Casa Ajei in San Bartolomé. They are also available at €12 an hour before days open from the Municipal Theatre in Tias.
