AIR CARE Monarch Rewards Politest Passengers
If you are flying to Lanzarote from the UK with Monarch Airlines then it really could pay to be polite. As the British based budget carrier are now awarding free upgrades to selected customers who display values such as courtesy, chivalry and respect when travelling with them.
The initiative is part of a scheme to promote traditional values and good behaviour in order improve the in-flight experience for all.
Monarch recently commissioned a study at London´s Goldsmiths Univeristy which revealed, unsurprisingly, that being nice helps to promote general well being. As a result the airline has started to make discretionary awards of seat upgrades and fast track check-ins to their most courteous customers.
Whilst the scheme certainly sounds like it was dreamt up by the airline´s PR department any initiative that rewards and encourages civility in the skies can only be lauded and applauded. Not least as the problem of in-flight drunkeness and abusive beahviour is on the rise, as evidenced only last week when two passenges forced a flight from Glasgow to Lanzarote to divert to Faro airport after their rowdy behaviour forced the crew to take action.
