There are plenty of attractions and things to do in and around Puerto Calero. This up market marina is a great place to visit just for the ambience and atmosphere alone. As the expensive yachts moored in their berths and the swaying palms and attractive landscaping create an attractive backdrop for a drink, a meal or just a stroll around.
Art Gallery
The Galeria de Arte in Puerto Calero in an attractive gallery cum shop featuring exhibitions by both local and international artists.
The Gallery is open from 16.00 to 21.00 on Tuesdays to Fridays, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11.00 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 21.00. Closed Mondays.
Diving in Puerto Calero
Puerto Calero is home to Island Watersports – an English operated dive centre and shop offering a comprehensive range of PADI training courses as well as specialist dives for the more advanced.
Excursions
As you would expect from a modern Marina, Puerto Calero is home to a number of boat trips and sailing excursions. Including Catlanza´s luxury 74 metre catamaran and Lanzarote´s very own Yellow Submarine.
Fishing in Puerto Calero
The waters around Puerto Calero and Lanzarote are home to a fine array of prized big fish. And as a result there are a number of sports fishing boats operating out of Puerto Calero.
Museums
Puerto Calero is home to a fascinating Dolphin and Whale Museum – the
Canarian Cetacean Museum. Which utilizes life size models and interactive displays to educate visitors about these unique marine species.
The museum is open daily from 10.00 to 18.00 and admission costs €11 for adults and €5 for children.
Regattas
A weekly regatta – organized by the crew at McSorleys Bar - is staged every Friday evening. And the marina is also home to some major annual sailing events such as the Trofeo Cesar Manrique.
Restaurants in Puerto Calero
Puerto Calero is a great spot for eating out. Bars and restaurants line the quayside, offering plenty of choice.
Spas
Both the locally located Hesperia and Costa Calero hotels have excellent spa facilities. The latter boasting a thalassotherapy centre.
