Guinate Tropical Park

Go wild at Guinate Tropical Park.  Where 1300 exotic bird and animal species and well planted botanical gardens are arrayed across eleven acres of land, at the foot of Lanzarote´s tallest volcano – Monte Coroña.

Guinate Tropical Park is located close to Maguez in the North of the Island.
And visitors can view a great variety of bird life here – such as ostriches, flamingoes, toucans, parrots and macaws.  As well as an abundance of other wildlife, including monkeys, wallabies, lemurs and meerkats.  All set amidst the delightful backdrop of tropical gardens, waterfalls and lakes.

The newest star attraction at Guinate are the recently arrived Humboldt Penguins – a rare and endangered South American species, indigenous to Peru and Chile that are already proving a big hit with visitors.  And guests will also be delighted by the regular parrot shows staged throughout the day – featuring bike riding macaws, high wire walking parrots and many other amusing avian antics.

Guinate Tropical Park also boasts a good quality restaurant and is an ideal destination for children.  It can be reached by following the road from Haria in the direction of the Mirador del Rio, where you will see the signs for Guinate and the Park.   Or alternatively, you can take the ring road around Arrecife to Tahiche, then head in the direction of Arrieta, through the quaint village of Maguez and on to the road to Guinate.

Rancho Texas Wild West Park

Puerto del Carmen

Yeeeehaaaa… This totally ersatz, but well executed, theme park covers some 50,000 square metres on the outskirts of Puerto del Carmen.

On an island that is a little short on attractions for kids, Rancho Texas is definitely the fastest draw in town.

The accent here is firmly on family fun and there are loads for the kids to do, from prospecting for gold and exploring the Indian Village to making new furry friends at the petting zoo and watching the regular parrot shows.

After sundown there’s a regular country and western evening, involving all of the usual attractions such as line dancing, barbecue and a bucking bronco.

For the really adventurous, the theme park also has ten bungalows available for holiday rental, granting free unlimited access to the rest of the park.

Pardelas Nature Park

Orzola

A somewhat smaller, more authentic and ecologically orientated offering in the north of the island where youngsters can come into contact with the native flora and fauna of the island.

Pardelas Park is devoted to promoting eco-tourism, so the activities are tailored accordingly and include donkey rides, walking tours, and handicrafts. Entrance prices also include a basket of food, which can be used to feed the many animals on site.

Ocean Water Park

Costa Teguise

This attraction generates very mixed reviews. Some love it; others hate it.

Reactions seem to depend on what time of year you visit. The water here isn’t heated — in summer that’s fine but in winter it’s going to feel cold, even if the sun is shining.

Also, anyone who has visited water parks in mainland Spain will find this pretty small scale.
