When’s The Best Time To Visit Lanzarote?
The weather in Lanzarote is good all year round, with temperatures hitting the mid 20's Celsius even in the winter months. So tourists visit Lanzarote whatever the time of year. Easter, summer and Christmas are usually the busiest periods.
There's very little rainfall on the island but there are strong winds from time to time, particularly from around April through until August. Which can prove very welcome especially during July and August when the sun is at its hottest.
These trade winds dissipate in September and October - and many residents of the island tend to agree that these are the best months for anyone planning a holiday on the island. Often this good weather will then extend right into Christmas. Night time during the winter months can be cool though, so if you are planning a break then make sure you bring something with long sleeves for the evenings.
The riskiest months of the year weather wise are probably November and February/March. As this is when tourists are more likely to encounter cloud, low temperatures and on occasion rainfall.
Where is Lanzarote?
Lanzarote is one of the seven Canary Islands, which are all owned by Spain and which are located off the North West coast of Africa. Lanzarote and the other Canary Islands sit on the same line of latitude as parts of Florida and the Bahamas. The journey time to Lanzarote from the UK and Eire is approximately four hours, although this can at times be reduced by as much as an hour depending on the wind conditions.
It's easy to visit other Canary Islands whilst you are on Lanzarote as there are excellent air links. Ferries also run regularly between Lanzarote and her next door neighbour Fuerteventura.
What's the Best Way To Explore The island?
We always recommend car hire to any visitor keen to really discover the island, as local bus services are infrequent outside of the main resorts and most guided tours are not sufficiently in depth. Booking your own rental car also means you can set your own itinerary and agenda. Car hire in Lanzarote is also inexpensive, with weekly rates starting from around €105, whilst petrol is cheap too.
