When people think of Lanzarote, it’s normally pictures of crowded beaches and the resort towns on the coast that fill their minds.
This is a shame, as there is so much more on offer for those who are prepared to look a little further.
One of the best ways to do this is with a guided walk, which gives you a different view of the island.
A different view of Lanzarote
Whether you want the dramatic scenery of the North-West coast, inland walks through the winefields or a trek through the valley of 1,000 palms, there is something to appeal to most people.
With our knowledge of the island, we have put together a series of walks and treks to stimulate the senses and introduce you to a different side of Lanzarote.
Our walks are recommended by The Mail On Sunday and This is Travel“s Gareth Huw Davies.
A selection of walks
Some of our walks are shown below, although we are more than happy to build your own itinerary if you let us know what you want to see.
Winefields and the Island’s Centre
Taking in the geographic centre of the island, you will stand on top of volcanoes and walk through the island’s peculiar — some would say weird — winefields wondering how they ever produce wine at all.
Along gravel tracks and quiet rural lanes, you will see life as it has been in Lanzarote for centuries.
Needless to say the views are stunning, at certain points the island unfolds beneath your feet with both coasts and many of the island’s landmarks being visible.
Price: 35 Euros per person
From: 08:30 to 13:00 approx.
Valley of 1,000 Palms
Walking through the Northern town of Haria, we explore this surprisingly green part of Lanzarote, well away from the tourist resorts and overcrowded beaches.
We walk down terraced ravines with achingly beautiful views and on to the small fishing port of Arrieta to end the trek by the sea.
Price: 35 Euros per person
From: 08:30 to 13:00 approx.
Historic capital to surfers paradise
From the islands old Capital, we walk along gravel tracks with simply amazing views out to the island of La Graciosa. We cross bridges walking over what you would swear are dried up streams and rivers and then on to the amazing beach at Famara.
Walking on tracks above the beach we skirt the Risco de Famara which rises straight from the ocean to become the highest point on the island.
Finally we walk back along the beach to finish at the sleepy fishing village — and surfers paradise — of Caleta de Famara.
Sometimes bracing, but always stunning, this is certainly a walk to invigorate the senses and renew your zest for life.
Price: 35 Euros per person
From: 09.00 to 13:00 approx.
Southern Selection
We also have a variety of walks which take in the southern part of the island, from Casitas de Femes and Yaiza down to the resort of Playa Blanca.
