Noche Blanco in Teguise

Head for the former island capital of Teguise this Friday 1st July as this historic town celebrates 'Noche en Blanco' or 'White Night', to mark the start of the annual festival of Nuestra Señora del Carmen.

Teguise will come alive with a range of activities to begin the celebrations for the Virgin of Carmen. Under the title of 'Noche en Blanco' or 'White Night', numerous establishments in the old capital will be open until 04.00 in the morning to help begin the festivities in style.

During the afternoon and evening, there will also be a new tapas route to follow in Teguise, with samples of food and local wines offered at many eateries for only 3 Euros per dish. And between 17.00 and 01.00 on Friday the doors of the Pirate Museum and the House Museum of the Timple will be open to the public for free.

At 19.00 there will be a guided tour of the historic streets of Teguise, starting at the Tourist Information Office to the side of the House Museum of the Timple, in the Palacio Spinola, which sits in the main Plaza de la Constitución.

Later on, there will be a wine-tasting taking place in the patio garden of the Palacio Spinola, from 21.00 onwards. At the same time, a new exhibition of paintings by Juan Bonilla will be inaugurated at the Convent of Santo Domingo.

Live music in the form of batucada begins at 21.30, with the percussive musicians walking through the streets of the town until 22.00, when they will congregate at the Pizzeria of Teguise. This will be followed by a programme of concerts taking place in numerous bars and restaurants around Teguise, with businesses permitted to keep their doors open until 04.00.

Each restaurant or bar will host live music from Batucada group Actuacion El Golpito for half an hour before it moves on the next establishment, starting at 22.30 with a concert at La Cantina, followed by Acatife at 23.00, La Galeria at 23.30, Casa Cejas at 24.00, Bar La Palmera at 00.30 and La Creperia at 01.00.
