Three in One Exhibition in El Charco

A new exhibition by young Canarian and Spanish artists opens next week at the Sala del Charco de San Gines in Arrecife. Running from Friday 22nd July, under the title 'Tresenuno' it features the work Laura Millan, Fayna Attasara and Maria Laura Benavente.

The works on display cover both photography and the plastic arts, specifically through the use of three dimensional models. Under the title 'Tresenuno' the exhibition has already been on display in Tenerife earlier this year and was very well received by the public.

Maria Laura Benavente's photography in the past has been used to capture ephemeral images that suggest moments of theatre, juxtaposing unusual objects together, such as deer and peacocks in a quasi-natural setting. Whilst her portraits of young women are highly feminine and beguiling.

Laura Millan's work has developed from her use of a three dimensional plane such as a case or box in which she creates the focal point of each piece. In the past, she has created a miniature swimming pool and diving board, complete with swimmers and divers enjoying the water. More recently she completed the 'Miniencuadro' exhibit which features a video of some of her three dimensional pictures.

The third artist, Fayna Attasara, is also a photographer, producing intimate portraits of young men and women and a range of interesting landscape images that reinterpret everyday objects such as hotel rooms and swimming pools.

The gallery at the Sala del Charco de San Gines can be found next to the Charco in Arrecife and is open from Monday to Friday between 10.00 and 13.00 and 17.00 and 20.00. It is also open between 10.00 and 13.00 on Saturday morning. Entrance is free.
