Live Music in Puerto Calero

Puerto Calero is holding two free music events over this weekend, with live music from Primera Linea lined up for tonight, Friday 2nd September. The events will be held under the canopy in the main square of the harbour, starting at 18.30 this evening and from midnight on Saturday.

Primera Linea is a Spanish group that has produced numerous dance numbers, such as 'Lambada' and 'Y Nadie hizo Nada' which borrow Latin and salsa rhythms. They formed in 1999, after the group Orquesta Mermelada (Marmalade Orchestra) disbanded and say that they draw inspiration from artists such as Celia Cruz and Edwin Rivera.

On Saturday 3rd September the music will be performed by Grupo Criollos, whose main influences are drawn from Cuban rhythms and the sounds of the Caribbean. Grupo Criollos won’t take to the stage until around midnight and they will also be performing under the canopy in the main square opposite the Varadero building.
