Enjoy A Taste of Lanzarote

A new festival celebrating Lanzarote’s wine and food begins today, offering tourists the opportunity to taste a variety of new dishes made with locally grown products in a number of restauarants in the north of the island. Culminating in a major gastronomic event in Haria on Saturday 21st April at the weekly market.

All of the activity is being organised by SaboreaLanzarote (Taste Lanzarote), whose main aim is to promote island produce, and will feature locally grown pulses, chickpeas, beans and millet – all of which form the basis of many traditional dishes.

Canarian stews and soups, such as potaje, have long relied on chickpeas, pulses and beans to add flavour and body but over the next week, visitors to various participating restaurants will be able to try novel reinterpretations of these dishes, as well as salads and other innovative uses of these ingredients.

Amongst the establishments taking part are El Marinero in Arrieta, Dos Hermanos in Haria, La Tegala restaurant in Macher, the Terrace Grill at Bodega Stratvs in La Geria, Lillium and La Puntilla in Arrecife and Isla Bonita in Costa Teguise. The restaurants at the Monumento al Campesino and at the Castillo de San José will also be participating. Prices for these special culinary offerings will start at just €1 per dish.
