MusicAct at the Castillo de San Jose

The Castillo de San Jose in Arrecife provides the atmospheric backdrop for a new alternative, independent music festival which gets underway next Saturday 28th April. Titled MusicAct the event features seven bands and DJ’s appearing across the course of three weekends in April, May and June. With the first performance taking place on April 28th - featuring the electro pop duo Mini Market and the bizarre sounds of Japanese Two - in the restaurant at the Castillo, which is being converted into a concert space for the first time.

This new event is the brain child of Oscar Perez, of local band Oscartienealas (Oscar Has Wings) and will feature a number of Canarian artists who mix experimental, rock and glam music into an eclectic blend.

Perez hopes the event will be a success, with funding for it raised by ticket sales, so that future dates can be arranged. Further concerts are already scheduled for 12th May, with Ivan Ferreiro of ‘Los Piratas’ performing his indie-pop sound alongside DJ ZePequeño. Whilst on 16th June, the hip hop group ‘Cookin bananas’ and DJ Charcutero 2.0 are set to appear.

The first event on April 28th is entirely free of charge and kicks off at 21.00. Tickets for the two later concerts cost €20 and €15 respectively and are on sale at the ticket offices of all the Centres of Art, Culture and Tourism.
