A Taste Of Cuba In Costa Teguise

Head for La Masia restaurant in Costa Teguise this month to enjoy a pictorial taste of Cuba, as a new exhibition featuring the photographic work of Harri Morick gets underway. Entitled ‘Cuba How Beautiful – Cars of Cuba´ it focuses on the faces and motor vehicles encountered by Morick during his tours of the communist run Caribbean island.

This German born photographer has travelled extensively, always accompanied by his camera, to such far flung destinations as Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Mexico and Croatia. Morick began taking photos in 1959 at the age of twelve, when he was given one of the first zoom lens models of camera on the market.

Since those first early shots he developed a part time career using photos taken during his travels which have subsequently been used in leaflets and tourist publications in the countries he journeyed to. In 2009 he published a book of his pictures, ‘Cuba, how beautiful is Cuba’ which is packed with photos of the island.

His new exhibition at La Masia will run until the end of June. The restaurant can be found on the road that goes up to the Costa Teguise golf course, where it is situated on the left hand side of the road just after the water park. La Masia is starting to enjoy a growing reputation for staging eclectic cultural events, combined with an equally innovative approach to cuisine.
