Workshop Of Dreams Exhibition Opens at CMF

A new exhibition focusing on the life and work of César Manrique has just opened at the César Manrique Foundation in Tahiche, featuring intimate personal objects, photographs and a reconstruction of his studio in Haria, where he spent the final years of his life. Amongst the mementos on display are photos from his period in New York in the mid 1960´s and unfinished paintings.

The exhibition is one of two events planned for this year, celebrating the work of the Lanzarote based artist and architect. Entitled ‘Workshop of Dreams’, it aims to bring within reach of the general public the wide ambit of Manrique’s work as a painter, as well as provoke memories of the man through his huge imprint on the island.
A faithful recreation of his studio in Haria is the main focus of the exhibition, and it is filled with personal objects such as diaries, photographs, the original furniture, magazines and picture frames, so almost giving the impression that the artist is still at work in the space.

Also included in the exhibition will be the posters and drawings that Manrique had hanging on his own walls, amongst them the artwork used to promote his own exhibitions – as well as the final paintings on which he was working at the time of his death.

The exhibition will run until October and entrance to the César Manrique Foundation costs €8 for adults (and is free for children aged under 12 years).
