Broken Embraces Outdoor Screening in Costa Teguise

Visitors to the island can enjoy a special free outdoor screening of the highly acclaimed Pedro Almodóvar movie Broken Embraces, which was partly shot on Lanzarote, next Wednesday the 26th of September at the main beach of Playa Las Cucharas from 20.30 onwards.

The screening is being staged as part of Costa Teguise´s annual Tourism Week and it will feature English subtitles, whilst playing in its original Spanish language format. The film is a tale of passion, loss and obsession and the plot revolves around a car crash which takes place on Lanzarote, leaving one of two lovers dead (Penelope Cruz) and another blind.

Almodóvar shot the movie in an atmospheric film noir style and it features lots of footage of well known landmarks and locations on the island, such as the beach at Famara and the giant wind toy Phobos, located close to the Cesar Manrique Foundation in Tahiche.

Other Tourism Week highlights in Costa Teguise include the Rock and Blues Festival which will be featuring a host of the hottest local bands and which will be taking place in the large car park next to the Pueblo Marinero on Friday the 28th and Saturday the 29th of September from 21.00 through until 02.00.
