Oktoberfest 2012 in Puerto del Carmen

If you’re a fan of Bavarian beers then it’s time to dust off the lederhosen and head down to the Plaza de los Naciones in Los Pocillos this coming weekend, as Lanzarote’s third annual Oktoberfest gets underway.

Germany is famous for its brewing and beer culture and the Oktoberfest celebrations have been taking place in Munich for around 200 years. Plenty of other countries have caught on since then too and now there are similar events taking place all around the world – with even India and Palestine holding their own versions.

On Lanzarote the event is now in its third year and has become a multi themed festival that encompasses live music, food stalls, charity auctions and much more besides…..as well as of course the all important beer drinking.  The festivities get underway this Friday October 19th from 14.00 and the event runs through until Sunday night. Live bands confirmed include local favourites such as Black Sheep, The Mick James Band and SoundTrack4You and entry is free of charge. Prost!
