Kike Perdomo at the Island Theatre in Arrecife

Lanzarote based jazz man Kike Perdomo brings his quintet to the Island Theatre in Arrecife this weekend, on Saturday 20th October. The self-taught musician who plays both the guitar and the saxophone will perform a range of tracks, including some from his latest release ‘Electrik&Funk’.

Born in Tenerife in the early 1960´s Kike has developed his own style of music and has established himself as a national and international star on the jazz scene. His style of music is essentially modern, with many of his songs displaying innovative ideas and techniques and a wide range of influences.

In the last ten years, Kike´s career has brought him greater recognition as well as the opportunity to work with such well-known names as the saxophonist Bill Evans. In 2005, he recorded a new CD ‘And now what?’ alongside Francis Posé, Juan Luis Castaño and Chano Dominguez, the Spanish flamenco jazz pianist.

This collaboration led to a group of concerts reigniting his interest in jazz funk and another CD followed shortly, where he explores in more depth the funk and jazz grooves which have come to typify his sound. As a result of this development, he formed a new quintet with whom he will be performing this Saturday.

Tickets are 10 each and are available from the Department of Culture at the Cabildo of Lanzarote and also from the box office at the Island Theatre. The concert kicks off at 21.00.
