El Mar Y Sus Sentidos Exhibition in Haria

Catch a new exhibition in the unique El Aljibe gallery space in Haria, featuring the photographic work of both Canarian and Belgian artists. Entitled ‘The Sea and Its Senses’ there are over sixty high impact images on show and the exhibition runs until the end of this month.

Artists whose work is being showcased include Pepe Vera, a Lanzarote resident, alongside fellow Canarian photographers David Olivera, Marta Arrazola, Esther Arrocha, José Maria Gonzalez del Corral and SaroAccosta. From Belgium, there are contributions from Dirk Vermeirre, Nele Van Canneyt and Tom de Visscher.

Each photographer brings his or her own perspective to the subject matter of the sea, using the camera to make everyday observations about the life that goes on around and upon the ocean. For example in a playful take on maritime journeys, one of Pepe Vera´s images is of Barbie missing her boat. Tom de Visscher, on the other hand, has created several intriguing images which feature mythological creatures, such as centaurs and mermaids.

The exhibition runs until 1st December and the gallery is open between 10.00 and 13.00 and 17.00 and 19.00 from Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings between 10.00 and 14.00. The gallery is located just opposite the Ayuntamiento of Haria building, below ground level.
