Tickets On Sale Soon For Canaries Gospel Festival

Bazil Meade and the London Community Gospel Choir are the headline attraction at this year’s Canarian Gospel Festival, which visits Lanzarote on December 4th.

Reverend Meade and his choir will bring a funky note to this uplifting annual event, as over the 30 years since the group first formed they have developed a unique gospel sound which incorporates the more contemporary influences of other musical genres such as rhythm and blues and soul.

The opening night of the festival takes place on Lanzarote, with a concert at the Island Theatre, in Arrecife and further dates are also scheduled in Tenerife and Gran Canaria. Bazil Meade founded the London Community Gospel Choir in 1982, alongside Lawrence Johnson, Delroy Powell and John Francis and it is now considered to be the leading light of this scene in the UK.

Bazil Meade is also a songwriter and musical arranger and has worked with numerous stars in the British industry, such as Mel B and Martine McCutcheon. His skills also extend to coaching singers and arranging choral backing vocals, such as on the Blur single ‘Tender’.

This is the seventh annual festival of Gospel Choir music in the Canaries. Tickets cost €12 each and are available from November 26th at the Cabildo of Lanzarote from the Department of Education and Culture. They will also be on sale one hour before the concert begins at the venue ticket office. The concert on Lanzarote takes place on Tuesday 4th December and begins at 21.00.
