Acuarelas de Viaje Exhibition Opens in Tias

A new exhibition of water colours has just opened at the Ermita de San Antonio in Tias, entitled Acuarelas de Viaje (Travel Watercolours), which showcases the work of island resident Annalie Carlson. Originally from Hamburg in Germany, Annalie has been resident in Lanzarote since 2001 and has had numerous exhibitions in both her native country and on the island.

This latest exhibition features a number of water colours depicting the artist’s travels in countries such as Mexico, Peru, China and North Africa. Annalie trained as an artist at the University of Art and Design in Germany and taught art in schools in the 1970’s. She then created her own studio in Hannover before travelling further afield and eventually settling in Lanzarote.

Annalie’s expertise with water colour paints is visible in the many pictures she has developed detailing the architecture of Lanzarote as well as depictions of the volcanic rock formations. Her skill at producing clearly delineated images is evident in every painting, especially when using such a mutable medium as water colour.  The exhibition runs until 5th January 2013 and is free to enter. The gallery opening times are between 17.00 and 20.00 from Monday to Friday and between 10.00 and 14.00 on Saturday.
