Concerts At The Cave Continue With Mediterraneum

The amazing natural acoustics of the Cueva de Los Verdes can be enjoyed to maximum effect this coming Friday September 4th as this atmospheric auditorium plays host to the third in a season of six concerts, entitled Mediterraneum.

Mediterraneum is the creation of Juan J. Ochoa y Urbez Capablo and is billed as a journey by piano around the Med, evoking the sights, smells and sounds of the Mare Nostrum, as this body of water was once known during Roman times.

The composition was first created for the Festival of Contemporary Music in Mallorca and is something of a personal journey for Ochoa, who was schooled at the prestigious Piano y Música Contemporánea por Musikene-Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco, thanks to his intense interest in the original music of the region.

He´ll be performing the piece alongside Urbez Capelo, an eminent exponent of more cutting edge, contemporary sounds who has worked on some seriously eclectic projects with bodies such as the Barcelona Laptop Orchestra. And they´ll be on stage from 21.00. Tickets cost €20 and are available from the Centres of Art and Culture around the island.
