Tourists touching down at Arrecife airport can now take in a new exhibition whilst waiting for their luggage. As the Terminal One building plays host to the upcycled artworks of Alvaro Guzman through until September.

Marid born and Lanzarote based Guzman is a passionate advocate of marine conservation and his new exhibition features a number of works created solely from the plastic micro particles that wash up on the shores of the island.

The purpose of his exhibition is to raise awareness amongst visitors about the threat that these mass produced plastics pose to the marine enviornment and the wildlife inhabiting the waters around Lanzarote. Aiming to encourage a reduction in their overall usage and more eco friendly disposal - an initiative which airport authorities have already set in train by banning plastic containers in their VIP lounge.
