TAKE NOTE Minsk Chamber Orchestra In Arrecife

The Minsk Chamber Orchestra take to the stage tonight as part of the 35th Canary Islands International Music Festival…

The ensemble brings together some of the finest soloists from two Russian classical music institutions, The Bolshoi and the Minsk Philharmonic. And together they will be taking the stage tonight at the Teatro Salinero in Arrecife from 20.30 – with tickets still available online, priced at €35.

The history of the Minsk Chamber Orchestra is closely linked to that of the former Soviet Union, as the group was formed as the Republic dissolved, reflecting a search for greater national identity in Belarus.

Since then, the ensemble has performed in some of Europe’s best known concert halls whilst collaborating with eminent conductors such as Vladimir Spivakov, Gerard Korsten and James Gährer.

Tonight’s programme includes interpretations of "Variations on a theme of Tchaikovsky", by Anton Arensky; "Chamber Symphony" (transcript of the "Quartet No. 8 in C minor"), by Shostakovich and the "Suite Holberg, opus 40", by Grieg.
