FREE SPIRITS Cuban Combo Close Carnival Celebrations

Colourful Cuban hip hop combo Los Orishas close the carnival celebrations in Arrecife this coming Saturday, March 9th….

Los Orishas comprise three hip-hop heads from Havana, who first came together back in 1999. And they take their name from the powerful mortal spirits that are worshipped by devotees of the African based religion Santeria, which is still widely practiced across Cuba.

Their albums to date have sold over 750,000 copies worldwide, paying testament to their global popularity. The most recent of which, Gourmet, was released in 2018 after a ten-year absence from the recording studio.

They will be bringing the current carnival celebrations in the island capital to a close this weekend, as they headline a day long festival of tapas and tunes in the Parque Jose Ramirez Cerda which is set to run from midday through until 03.00. With backing from a big bunch of bands, including Danza Invisible and Basque balladeer Mikel Erentxun.

The annual Feria de Tapas will also be running in a variety of restaurant venues in Arrecife throughout the day.
