On Your Marks For Enduroman

This weekend sees the first Enduroman event taking place in Playa Blanca. This new triathlon will test participating athletes to the limit, with the Double Enduroman competition consisting of twice the normal Ironman trials at swimming, cycling and running.

This translates into a 4.8 mile swim, a 224 mile bike circuit and a double marathon of 52 miles. Originally launched in the UK three years ago, the Enduroman has been brought to Lanzarote for the first time this year and will take place on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th February in Playa Blanca and around the island.

Fortunately, the competition is also open to participants who prefer to do the standard triathlon circuits, as well as some shorter trials such as the Half Enduroman and the Olympic Enduroman.

As a result of these different levels of competition, each event will begin at a different time of the day. Those taking part in the Double Enduroman will begin their athletic endeavours at 08.00, whilst the shortest circuit for Olympic Enduroman kicks off at 14.00. Cut off times for each level also vary, with the Double Enduroman ending at 00.00 midnight on Sunday, some forty hours after the event begins.
