Classical Concert in Puerto Calero

A classical concert featuring the renowned duo of Razvan Suma and Josu Okiena on violoncello and piano respectively is taking place in the marina at Puerto Calero on March 3rd. With tickets priced at €15.

Following the success of the series of concerts under canvas at the end of last year, Puerto Calero has arranged another open air music event, taking place on Thursday 3rd March. The programme will include pieces of music from Beethoven, Schuman and Brahms.

Razvan Suma is a native of Romania and has been playing the violoncello since the age of six, whilst he won his first competition at age seven. He is one of the most sought after cellists in his own country and has been received with critical acclaim around the world. In recent years he has teamed up with the Basque pianist Josu Okiena to play as a duet.

Josu Okiena was born in San Sebastian and began his career as a pianist in his home town, later moving to New York to study at the Julliard School of Music. He has also won several prizes, including one awarded by the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid and the Andres Segovia prize. Okiena also teaches at Musikene, the Superior Centre of Music in the Basque country.

Suma and Okiena have been performing together since 2009, when they made an appearance at the Festival of Music at San Sebastian.

Tickets for this concert cost €15 each and can be purchased from the main office at Puerto Calero.
