Breath of the Sea Exhibition Opens in Teguise

A new exhibition opens at the Convento de Santo Domingo in Teguise today featuring the work of Italian painter Massimo Zonari. Entitled The Breath of the Sea, the paintings include a number of canvasses featuring scenes from around the island and runs through until May 8th. With admission free of charge.

Zonari is an established artist from Ferrara in Italy. He has had numerous exhibitions over the last two decades and ranges from oil painting to graphic design. In the past he spent eight years in Mallorca, where he found the light particularly inspiring. On Mallorca he held a range of exhibitions both individually and collectively with other artists.

He has also spent several years in the Canary Islands, arriving in the archipelago for the first time at the age of seventeen. As a result the palette of colours he is drawn to is a mixture of Mediterranean and Canarian tones.

As the son of a painter, Massimo has been naturally drawn to express himself through drawing and painting, using materials to create highly idiosyncratic artworks. His paintings range from fairly abstract compositions to extremely accurate portraits and still life studies.

The exhibition runs from 7th April until 8th May and is located in the Convent of Santo Domingo in Teguise. The inauguration is at 20.30 on Thursday 7th April and entrance is free.
