New Agreements with European Tour Operators

The Society for the External Promotion of Lanzarote (SPEL) is on the point of signing eight new agreements with tour operators across Europe which will cover the remaining holiday season of 2011. Alongside agreements in existing markets such as the UK and Ireland, the Society has also been in talks with new tourist markets such as Poland.

The German airline Condor and tour operators FTI will be reaching new agreements over the next few days, with FTI planning a campaign to promote the island on

British tour operators Cosmos are in discussion with the SPEL about future promotional plans for Lanzarote, with hopes of increasing the number of holidays and flights they bring to the island. With Sunway in Ireland looking at similar proposals for the remainder of 2011.

The budget operator Norwegian Air Lines and Thomas Cook Holland are two further European flight companies who are currently exploring how they can expand their services to Lanzarote. To this end, Thomas Cook Holland will introduce a third flight from October.

Emerging markets, such as Poland, will see new weekly flights being offered by TUI Poland from October. Whilst the traditional Spanish market will be further galvanised by new agreements with Viajes Iberia, Orbest (which used to operate under the name Iberworld) and Solplan, which will be the main focus of meetings for the SPEL in the coming months.

At the same time, the internet will form a greater part of the overall strategy for the Tourist Board of Lanzarote and the SPEL with the websites and being synergised.
