Boost For Inter-Island Tourism

Inter island tourism in the Canaries is set to get a boost as the councillor for Tourism at the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Astrid Pérez, has just finalised an agreement with the ferry company Naviera Fred Olsen to help promote tourist packages amongst the resident population. In particular the ferry route between Lanzarote and Gran Canaria will see the introduction of a new service from today.

This new ferry service has a capacity for 1,600 passengers and will sail six days a week between the two islands. It is hoped that this additional route will stimulate more residents to visit the other islands in the archipelago, as inter-island tourism is already viewed as a valuable supplement to the tourist industry of the Canaries.

As a result, tickets for the new route will be extremely competitively priced and in future there will be special promotions and inclusive packages offered to facilitate higher levels of holiday travel between the islands. This will also include new services to Tenerife as well.
