September Hotel Occupancy Soars By 15%

Lanzarote hotels and apartment complexes enjoyed their highest September occupancy levels since 2003 last month, according to data just released by hoteliers association ASOLAN. As the number of beds filled in their members' establishments climbed from 69.92% last year to 85.15%. Figures which also make September the second best month for hotel occupancy on the island this year after August.

Despite the current economic climate hotel occupancy rates on Lanzarote continue to climb, according to the latest data just released by ASOLAN, the islands hoteliers association. Which reveals that Lanzarote hotels and apartment complexes have just enjoyed their busiest September in eight years, as the number of tourist beds filled on the island climbed to 85.15%.

The islands main resort of Puerto del Carmen enjoyed a particularly positive month, leading Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise with an overall occupancy rate of 87.16 and with four star hotels in Puerto del Carmen filling just over 90% of their beds last month. Whilst other accommodation types such as apartments, bungalows and apart hotels also recorded rates well in to the mid 80's%.

Four star hotels in Playa Blanca also performed well, with 89.99% of their beds filled, so contributing to an overall occupancy level of 85.79% for the resort. Whilst in Costa Teguise holidaymakers booked up 84.11% of the resort's capacity. Figures which resulted in the ASOLAN president Susana Pérez stating that these positive numbers further confirm the recovery of the tourist sector in both Lanzarote and the Canaries.
