Air Berlin Increase Flights to Lanzarote

The flight operator Air Berlin has just confirmed that it intends to increase its connections to Lanzarote for the winter season of 2011-2012, with more flights from Hamburg and the introduction of a new route to the island from Stuttgart. A move which should help to maintain the current upswing in visitor numbers from Germany, Lanzarote's second largest tourist market.

The announcement was made by the sub-director of the company for Spain and Portugal, Pablo Caspers, at a meeting with the Society for the External Promotion of Lanzarote on Monday this week. This comes on the back of improved visitor numbers to Lanzarote from Germany, with 16.2% more tourists arriving here in September this year when compared with figures from 2010.

To further assist in the promotion of Lanzarote as a tourist destination to the German market, the airline and the Tourist Board of Lanzarote are planning to create a microsite on the internet, where visitors will be able to see the flight programmes and accommodation packages on the island. The microsite's address will be www.airlebe-lanzarote.de. It will have links with the official Air Berlin site as well, which already enjoys good rankings in the main German search engine motors.
