Jet2 Launch New Route From Glasgow

Budget airline Jet2 launch their new route from Glasgow today. Increasing the options for Scottish based tourists seeking to book flights to Lanzarote and placing the carrier in competition with both Thomas Cook and Thomson, who are already operating flights to the island from that city.

The newest route for the British airline opens today, with the first arrival of a direct flight to Lanzarote from Glasgow expected this evening. This brings the total number of routes operated by between Lanzarote and the north of England and Scotland up to five.

Jet2 already services the cities of Leeds, Manchester, East Midlands and Newcastle and the new Glasgow route is planned to stay in operation for the rest of the year. It is anticipated that the Glasgow to Lanzarote service will increase the number of seats offered by the airline by 30%, with a total of 112,000 places on sale across their range of flights to the island.

Many of those who already choose for their flights are also buying holiday packages with the Jet2holidays brand, confirmed the company’s spokesman, Ian Doubtfire. And whilst the main aim of the airline is to bring Scottish tourists to the sunshine, at the same time, hopes that Glasgow’s reputation as a cosmopolitan centre will also attract Canarians to visit the city in return!

Flight tickets are on sale from as little as €59.49, including taxes, with baggage allowances of up to 22 kilos. Making their prices largely comparable with their larger competitors.
