Facelift Go Ahead For El Jablillo

One of the main avenues in Costa Teguise, Avenida el Jablillo, is set to be given a facelift in keeping with the aesthetic design of César Manrique following an agreement between the mayor of Teguise, OswaldoBetancort and the councillor for Tourism, Antonio Callero.

Nearly half a million euros has been earmarked for this project which will see the introduction of new pavement surfaces, using basalt stone from local quarries, improved public gardens with a new irrigation system and various other decorative elements.

The beautification of this particular stretch of the tourist resort will help to bring it in line with the rest of Costa Teguise, which has had extensive improvements made to its walkways and promenades both in the Playa Bastian area and to some of the surrounding green zones in the last few years. The Avenida el Jablillo runs down the centre of the resort to the Teguise Playa Hotel and the small beach also named Jablillo.

In order to complete this phase of improvements to the infrastructure, 476,000 Euros will be invested in the area. Greater accessibility is another key feature of the proposed refurbishments, with an increase in the number of benches to be installed in garden areas also envisaged.
