Chenoa Appears Live At The Island Theatre
The Argentine singer Chenoa is appearing at the Island Theatre in Arrecife this weekend, on Saturday 3rd November. She is probably best known in Spain for participating in OperaciónTriunfo, the Spanish equivalent of X Factor, which led to the release of her first record ´Chenoa´ and sold 500,000 copies.
Since then, she has recorded numerous albums, with the emphasis increasingly on pop music, especially after the release of her disc ´Nada esIgual` in 2005. Chenoa´s influences include Quincy Jones and Earth, Wind and Fire, which she grew up listening to in Mallorca, after her family moved there from Argentina whilst she was still a child.
Before her rise to fame on OperaciónTriunfo, she had also performed locally with her band KoanFussion in Mallorca, beginning a career as a singer from the age of 16. But the success she met after the release of her first single has seen impressive record sales, with a platinum disc for ´Nada esIgual´ and strong sales for all the later records she has produced. She writes all her own music and has been working with British producer Nigel Walker in the past year.
The concert on Saturday begins at 21.00, tickets cost €20 and can be purchased from the Department of Culture at the Cabildo de Lanzarote or from the ticket office at the Island Theatre an hour before the show begins.
