Snow and Ice Disrupts UK Air Travel

Snow storms and icy conditions in the UK have wreaked havoc on the travel plans of tourists hoping to fly to Lanzarote and other destinations around the world today, with a number of airports across the UK now closed and with many access routes to and from these hubs severely disrupted.

The Met Office in the UK has issued a yellow warning for ice and has advised travelers to take extra care in the current sub zero conditions which are expected to extend their icy grasp well into the rest of this week. With further snow forecast for south west England and south Wales tomorrow.

Currently East Midlands airport runways are closed, with flights either cancelled or delayed. Whilst Gatwick and Birmingham airports are also experiencing delays. As a result some flights to the island are now running well behind schedule, such as the Ryanair FR2048 from Leeds/Bradford due in this morning which is currently delayed by over 3 hrs.
