Tourist Arrivals Fall by 2.57% in February

Total tourist visits to Lanzarote dropped by 2.57% last month, as the island welcomed 152,901 arrivals in February, according to the latest statistics just released by ISTAC. A figure that has fallen from 156,298 holidaymakers in the same month last year and which continues Lanzarote’s negative start to 2013 – with total arrivals now down by 7.09% versus the first two months of 2012.

Arrivals from the UK, Lanzarote’s largest market fell by 4.8% to 62,839 passengers. Whilst visitor numbers from the mainland continued their downward trend, dropping by 22.1% to 14,833 visitors. On the upside though tourist numbers from Germany and Ireland, Lanzarote’s second and third largest tourist markets rose by 4.5% and 18.7% respectively. Whilst smaller markets such as Holland and France also recorded positive growth.
