Spruce Up for Arrecife Park

Several members of the Lanzarote Government, including the president Pedro San Gines, visited the public gardens that lie to the side of the Gran Hotel in Arrecife earlier this week to examine the amount of work needed to rejuvenate this space, which is now looking somewhat run down and distressed.

As a result, the mayor of Arrecife, Manuel Fajardo Feo, has promised to put the project before the island corporation as soon as possible, requesting funds of €150,000 so that the park can be restored to its former pristine state. Whilst some of the structure’s deterioration is due to vandalism, other aspects have not weathered well due to the seafront location of the park, which has wooden decking running all the way along its coastal edge.

In addition to repairs to the skateboard area of the park, the Ayuntamiento is also considering the addition of an information centre for cruise line tourists who visit the capital. For ease of access for passengers who disembark in Puerto Naos, this information centre will be located in the area of El Charco.
